The best pump is usually early morning when you wake up after sleeping.
Don't worry that you'll pump it all because the baby will always be able to extract milk.
I also used a pump whenever the baby skipped a night time feed, so I had some milk stocked.
Remember that the milk keeps frozen for 3-6 months (depending on your freezer) and keeps fresh in your fridge only for 2-8 days.
